I love to say I told you so [on camera]
"Beautiful, is it not?"
(The scene opens on a close up shot of the Level Up Wrestling Wisdom Championship. It sits radiantly, the spotlights reflecting off the gold. It's dark beyond the spotlight, and as the camera slowly pans out we can see more of the scene. Sidroy Covington the Fourth sits in the bleachers of the Indiana Farmers coliseum, on a towel of course. The Wisdom Championship sits proudly on his black windbreaker pants, the only thing visible Sidroy is wearing other than his black and gold towel around his neck and a blood-soaked bandage stuck to his forehead. He looks down at the ring in the far distance at the center of the coliseum, and watches for a moment as the ring crew continues to tear down the ring and take down signage for the huge Combat Evolved event.)
COVINGTON: When one door closes, another one opens. You know, I'm sure nobody really noticed because I hold myself together so well, but I took it pretty hard when I failed to win the Final Boss Championship at The Last of Us. I just couldn't figure out how. How the prophecy of pro wrestling... was wrong. I could feel it in my bones, that championship was mine. I was made for it, BORN for it, and yet it slipped through my grasp. I'd be lying if I told you I didn't think about giving up, packing it in and saying 'on to the next one', because clearly there was some sort of foolish chicanery going on in the bowels of Level Up if I lost. I'm not one to make excuses, because I don't lose, so in my mind it was clearly the system cheating me.
However, for once it was not fowl play. This time it was simply destiny. You see the Final Boss Championship is only the premiere championship because The Developer tells us that's the case. However, if there's one thimg that I've been known to do, it's prove people wrong. Nobody thought I'd make it in Professional Wrestling - I did. Nobody thought I could hang with the top dogs of Level Up Wrestling - I did. Nobody thought I'd be able to beat the unbeatable LEGION and become a champion -
(He lifts the belt gingerly, still feeling the effects of his match.)
COVINGTON: And I sure as hell did. So to all of you doubting me that I'm going to make this title the most prestigious championship in the wrestling industry and saying that I'm delusional for wanting to do so... I implore you to listen close. Whether you like it or not, when I say something? I do it. I understand I run my gob a little more than most have a taste for, but that's not my problem. A ducks gonna quack, birds are gonna fly, and winners are gonna win. So to those betting against Sidroy Covington the Fourth after witnessing me prove you all wrong night after night after night? I'm not the one who's delusional, it's you.
Speaking of delusional... congratulations are in order for one Mrs. Jenny. She overcame Larry Taft and Eli Goode earlier this evening to earn herself a shot at my newly acquired championship. So Jenny, congratulations indeed. However The Developer has wasted no time in announcing the new card and it appears you'll not only not be getting your championship opportunity at EXP 7, but in fact we will have to join forces. Now it's no secret I haven't been the most successful in tag team action, truth be told I'd much rather go it on my own to avoid others losing a match for me, but I have to say if I was going to have somebody watching my back I'm glad it's you, Jenny. While you and I may not have much in common, where as I'm an incredibly handsome, successful star and you're... well you're terrifying let's not beat around the bush... But what we do have in common is one thing.
Talent. Don't get me wrong, when I saw who we're going up against I knew instantly that this wouldn't be an easy feat but any stretch of the imagination. For those not in the know as of yet, Jenny and I will be going up against my old pal and the second best champion in Level Up, Magamerica Lockheart and the man who won the number one contendership to that title, Bert McAlroy. Obviously it's going to be a difficult accomplishment for Jenny and I to achieve. But whether you like any of us or not, we are undoubtedly four of the most talented stars on this roster, and all of us have a reason to want to win this.
Maggie is the champ. She's got a reputation to uphold and she's under a lot of pressure to preduce. However, she has proven on more than one occasion to do just that. She's a big win type of gal, when the heat is on, she can handle it.
Bert McAlroy has been on a rollercoaster since the birth of Level Up, but nobody can deny his tenacity. He's got a chip on his shoulder but for good reason, the kids been nearly killed in several occasions in the short time Level Up's been around, and he's not only been surviving but thriving.
The two of them together is a dream team, a power couple of winning big matches when the wins matter the most. But you'd be insane to not admit that Jenny and I are not only in similar positions, but much more to gain. Clearly after tonight we've both proven our worth and proven that when a win is needed, we'll pick it up. Not only that, but this is the main event. This is basically The Developer telling me to put my incredibly amount of money where my mouth is and prove that the Wisdom Championship is THE top division in Level Up, so that certainly gives me motivation, and I hope it does the same for you Jenny.
Maggie has been untouchable so far, a true champion and I'll never take that away from her. But her and I have tangled many times so far and at the end of the day, our motivations are different. She doesn't know how good she truly is. She'll say she does, but there's doubt behind those eyes and hesitation behind her actions. Nobody thought I could beat LEGION, hell, I questioned it myself. But I'm a student of this game, and I don't miss anything. Those hesitations Maggie? Will be your downfall and my comupance. I've learned from our previous encounters and I will not suffer the same fates I have in the past.
And Bert? Is unpredictable. Ricci has been trying for months to put him down for good, and he not only couldn't, but McAlroy weathered the storm and came out on top. Bert is a true wildcard and he could be the difference maker in this match. But he's careless, he makes mistakes and he plays the Ali. Let you punch yourself out and then he takes advantage. But Bert, I hope you learned tonight that you can't do that with me. I can go all night long, and unlike some of your opponents in the past I will not underestimate you.
(Sidroy winces, craining his neck a little bit in pain.)
COVINGTON: I may not enter this match at 100% physically, but I will enter it 100% mentally. LEGION and I had a match tonight that nobody including myself saw ending the way it did. No, I'm not talking about that... Thing coming down and finishing off LEGION. I'm talking about what came out of me at the end of that match. Jack Michaels was the first to find out that when you right piss me off, it's never a good thing. And LEGION found out the same. There was absolutely a part of me that wondered if I could do it... but that win meant the world to me. I've come to find that the matches I need to win... I do.
And to me, this tag team match isn't just another match. I want this win badly. I want to prove that what I say is true, that my words have been correct, and that not matter what the rankings or anyone says...
Sidroy Covington the Fourth and his Wisdom Championship are number one in this company. And as LEGION learned tonight...
I will stop at nothing to achieve that goal.
(Sidroy stands gingerly, tossing the Wisdom Championship over his shoulder. He smiles, before slowly limping off screen. The camera pans over to the last ring crew member putting down his broom, and shutting down the lights of the Indiana Farmers Coliseum as the scene fades.)
