The scene starts with Eli Goode walking in front of the camera. He is wearing a three-piece suit and adjusts his suit jacket. He rolls his neck and tries to clear his head. He takes in a deep breath and slightly smiles.
“Hello there, it’s been a while. By a while, I mean the normal amount of time that it has taken for me to wait for the next big event. You all saw what happened last time. I lost to Larry Tact, and for the first time in our history of fighting each other, it was by a very decisive fashion. He knocked me out. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty decisive. So, you must be asking yourself why I’m so light-hearted about this situation. Well, it’s because I’m going up against him again. Yay me! But I’m not going up against him alone. No, no, no, no, I’m going up against him in a multiplayer match, or a tag match for the people that don’t understand the Level Up lingo. My partner, funny enough, is someone that I haven’t gotten along with since my time at Level Up has started. In fact, I could easily see someone say that we down right hate each other. My partner is Don Tirri.”
He chuckles to himself and rubs his hands together. He claps a bit to himself before resuming his monologue.
“You see, during the time that Jack and I were having problems, Don was on Jack’s side, not mine. In fact, he only knew me as that brat that wanted people’s attention. However, I’m not that guy anymore. A lot has changed these past few months. I’ve finally gotten over all of my problems. I’m not that bad guy that he may think I am. No, I’m one of the good guys now, and I know saying you're a good guy is not the same as actually proving that you’re a good guy. I understand that I’ll have to do more to earn his respect, and I’m willing to do that. Starting at EXP.
Don, I know that you can’t trust me yet, but I hope that this match will prove that you can. I’m going to be by your side all of the way. I’m going to make sure that you win. I also know that I have a chance to take Larry’s spot in the Skeleton Key match. I’m going to need your help to make that a reality. Both of us are capable of winning this match. I know that you’re going to be hesitant to work with me, but I promise you that I won’t stab you in the back. All I ask in return is that you help me take Larry’s spot. However, if you find a way to get the pin or submission, I’m not going to force you to wait for me. We both are going to win this match no matter who gets the victory for our team.
This is a multiplayer match, Don. We work together to get the win. I’m going to help you if you help me, and at the end of the day, we’re going to walk out of the ring as winners.”
Eli’s smile goes away. He walks over to grab a chair. The camera follows him to the chair. Once he realizes the camera is still on him, he shrugs and sits in the chair.
“Now, our opposing team are two men I have a lot of history with. You all know my history with Larry at this point. I could talk for hours and hours on how much I want to pin him and take his spot. Hell, it would be funny if I took his spot. He knocked me out to get the spot, but now I pin him to take it away from him. That would be the funniest story to tell anyone. It would be something he would have to live with for the rest of his life. He had it in his hands. He was literally going to be in this big match, but the person he knocked out stole it from him. That’s a movie waiting to get written. Hell, have the people who create ‘Batgirl’ write it.
But, I have to make sure I don’t get ahead of myself. I have to make sure that it happens first. Look Larry, you’re a strong competitor. I was always doubting you, but I needed to shut up. There’s no doubt in my mind that you can go up against the best of them, but it’s time to step aside now. Look, you needed to make a point against me, and you made it. Congrats, people can be heard cheering you from the rafters, but that’s done with. It’s time that you give your match shot to someone that actually deserves it now.
I’ve gone up against some of the best competitors in Level Up and proven myself against them. I was able to stand toe-to-toe with Lex Collins. I beat Jack Michaels via submission. My arm is still in a cast, and I’m able to still fight. You had your five minutes of fame. It’s time for someone worthy to be in that Skeleton Key match.”
Eli takes a deep sigh and looks forward at the camera. He smirks and rubs his hands together.
“And Larry’s partner is one that I will always remember. EAB, the man that chokeslammed me to advance in the Wisdom Championship tournament. Come on, did you really think I’d forget about that? Did you really think I would ignore your debut into this company? No, I never forgot about you. I always kept you in my head for whenever I needed to be ready to face you in a real match. Not a match that you inserted yourself into. Which, how were you able to insert yourself into that match? How were you able to convince the Developer to do that? So many questions that need answers.
But that’s for another time. Instead let’s focus on the answer to this question: who is going to beat EAB in the multiplayer match? It’s quite simple really. Tirri and Goode are. You see, you’re just another big guy that wants so hard to prove that bigger is better. Unfortunately for you, bigger is never better. I’ve gone up against giants. Hell, I’ve gone up against seven foot giants, and you are nothing compared to them. You’re just another wanna be, but this time you’re in a suit.
I wear suits as well, but mine are actually tailored for me. Those are the perks of being acquaintances with Jack Michaels. You always get the best care. So EAB, I hope you’re ready for revenge. I’ve been waiting a long time for this. The moment we meet in the ring will be the moment you regret chokeslamming me. I’ve always gotten my revenge, and I always make the people who hurt me suffer. I hope you’re ready for that because if you’re not, you’re going to be in for a rude awakening.”
Eli leans back in the chair and relaxes. He rolls his neck again, finally getting fully relaxed. He looks at the cast on his arm.
“People will be thinking this cast is a hindrance to me, but it’ll only make me stronger. People have tried to break me down for years, but that has only made me stronger. I have always been focused, even when I have questioned what I truly wanted. Last time I spoke to you all, I questioned whether I wanted to wrestle any more. I think I finally have an answer to that question… Yes, I still want to wrestle. I want to prove to myself that I can fight for the belt. I want to prove that I can be a contender, and Tact and EAB are currently in my way.
Don, you won’t have to worry about me. All you’ll have to worry about is making sure we win this match. Tact, EAB, I hope that you’re ready for Tirri and me. We’re ready for you. Tirri is going to show you why he is a legend in this business. Even when I didn’t show him respect early on, I always had respect for him. I always knew he was a legend, and now, you’re going to see one of the greatest wrestlers in Level Up team with someone who is That Damn Goode. I hope you’re ready. I know I am.”
Eli keeps a smile on his face as the scene fades to black.
