The scene opens in almost complete darkness.
The only tangible light source is that of the moon in the sky, barely illuminating the features of the courtyard. The only features that can be made out are that of a few branches of dead trees.
A dark figure strolls in slowly, purposefully from the right along a shingle path. The unmistakeable crunching sound of pebble crushing pebble is the only audible sound.
The figure stops and looks at the camera.
“In absentia lucis, Tenebrae vincunt.”
The figure then immediately restarts it’s slow walk closely followed by a small group. Difficult to make out but maybe four or five people.
Lastly two large figures appear. All heading in the same direction. The outline of the final two figures is Unmistakable even in this light. Drake and Isaac.
The camera runs towards them and catches up to Isaac. It follows just behind the left shoulder. The muscular behemoth doesn’t acknowledge the presence of the camera and continues walking.
The loose group of people continue their walk through the eerie courtyard. In the distance church bells can be heard ringing. They walk through a dilapidated gate and into what looks like a graveyard but it’s difficult to fully make out in the light.
Isaac stops as soon as he walks through the gate. He looks up and to his right. The camera follows his gaze. In the Silhouette of the moon a church spire can be seen.
“In absentia lucis, Tenebrae vincunt.”
He continues his walk now slightly behind everyone else as they all walk up to the entrance of the church.
The door to the building is made of solid wood. It is surrounded by a giant stone arch. The grand entrance make even the monstrous Drake look small.
The double doors are pushed open.
The church is illuminated by hundreds of candles. The light, significantly better than the moonlight outside but still general poor.
In the middle of the aisle at the top of the altar is James Wilcox. He is holding the wand across his body a hand at each end. His face is fully painted as “The Wizard”.
James was dressed in a black suit. His shirt, black. His newsboy hat atop his head also black. The only contrast to the darkness of his attire was his white tie, handkerchief, white rose pinned to his jacket and of course his white face paint. The paint came with a thick black border running from the top of his right ear down next to the nose and down towards the bottom of the left ear. The top has drip dry red from the scalp running down the face.
James was always a completely different person when the Wizard was on display. He was more intense, more violent. The places he would go in thought and in the execution of his ideas was darker than anyone else. It was a character that was created in the depths of the dungeon. A place his father had taught James, Drake and Isaac how to wrestle. It was a place where punishment and neglect were common practice. Except Isaac however, he had a chequered past. He had already submitted to the devil as the toxics of his abuse were beginning to ravage him from the inside out. Isaac saw the Dungeon and the Wilcox family as his saviours. It was due to this that he would forever be in their debt.
“Ahhhh my followers, my flock!” James places the Wand down on the altar and welcomes the fractured group into the church.
James continued “Today we congregate in the church of the Wizard, as you have all recognised. Just as I have. The corruption within the industry. Followed up by its need to be burned to the ground.”
The number of people in the church totals eight. Five followers and the three males from the Faction.
“Tonight we come together in the name of the Wizard. Lord of darkness and saviour of wrestling.”
James lifts up the Wand. He holds it on his right hand above his head.
“You have all seen the return of “The prodigal son” Adam Miller. We can take the word prodigal, derived from the word prodigus. It’s meaning somewhat…..lost. Truly it means wasteful and lavish. We all know the reasons for the prodigal ones return. Not because of redemption or revenge. No. We all know its not to make the repentant return. No. The truth is when I took him out. Broke his arm. The lavish lifestyle he had forged ended. Money became the problem and the only ticket left in town…..was ME. Immediately booked to face me. Immediately winning back the fans! There in lies our problem. There in lies the industries problem. Why put a man BACK in a ring when the other has so brutally destroyed you?”
James stops and signals for Isaac to come up to the Altar before he continues.
“I will end this once and for all with the Prodigal son. We will continue to challenge the industry. We will….” James now places his thumb to his index finger on his left hand and points it towards the pews infront.
“…..prevail.”
The collective congregation “In absentia lucis, Tenebrae vincunt.”
James relies “In absentia lucis, Tenebrae vincunt.”
“My brothers.” James shouts out loud. “Today truly is a momentous occasion. Today is the day the Reverent Isaac begins his duties. Spreading the word. Isaac….your sermon.”
James now steps back smiling maniacally. Replacing him, Isaac who quickly steps up to the altar. Isaac can now be clearly seen for the first time in the candlelight. He is wearing a black suit similar to James. However the traditional dog collar of a clergyman is red. Isaac is holding a perfect red rose in his hands.
Isaac “In absentia lucis, Tenebrae vincunt.”
The congregation “In absentia lucis, Tenebrae vincunt.”
Isaac “I am a man of few words. I prefer action but to be bestowed this great honour by the Wizard is truly, truly the greatest moment of my life. I owe a debt to the Wilcox family. I owe them more than anyone here will know. That is why I….The Reverent Isaac will do all I can to spread the word of the Wizard.”
Isaac takes the rose and holds it up.
“To me. It is not just about the injustice of the wrestling industry. It’s about embracing the darkness that is in all of us. It’s about growing our following to make us stronger! It’s about bending the will of the people to our thoughts our ideals! We deal in Pain. In Suffering. THATS our business and business is GOOD!”
Isaac takes a sip of water before continuing.
“It is for this reason that I will go out on my
Mission. I will be teaming with the Ragdoll this is because we are like minded! We are stronger with those who demand pain. Demand perfection in the ring! I lay this rose as a sign of things to come. A calling card if you will. Ahmya and Jenny, you have been marked by the Faction and our new business partner. There is no hiding from it. Just like the night it is inevitable! When we defeat you. Humiliate you. I will lay a rose for you.”
Isaac snaps the rose in his hand in half.
All “In absentia lucis, Tenebrae vincunt.”
The camera fades to dark
