“No! Daniel! No! Leave him! Please!” The screams of a desperate woman crying. It wasn’t enough to stop Daniel.
His rage knew no bounds. Triggered by what he had just witnessed. His wife kissing the object of his hatred! His anger fuelled by her screams. His friends screaming encouragement, occasionally wading into the fight themselves.
The victim, began to rise. He spat the blood out of his mouth. It quickly mixed with the quickly forming puddles as the rain bucketed down.
“Is that all you guys got?” The man said as he wiped his mouth. “Your mother hits harder.”
Daniels anger erupted further. Without thinking the ringleader of the assault dived in again. The soft muddy ground ensuring the skid as he approached.
Reacting to the expected charge the victim dragged Daniel to the floor. The two tussled for advantage. The combination of the rain, the mud and sheer determination on each side ensured the battle raged on. That was until Daniels two friends joined the fray.
Pan and Hogg were both well above six feet tall. Hogg was the more muscular of the two. He had played football all his life. The guy knew how to get physical when called upon. Pan was more the school bully type. Big but nasty. He often relied on his looks and piss poor attitude to get him through. He wasn’t particularly adept at fighting but with the numbers he was happy to drop a punch or two in.
The two bullies threw their punches in. The victim subdued enough for the pair to grab Daniel under his arms and drag him back to his feet. Daniel swinging his legs wildly in an attempt to kick the his target. Until Pan and Hogg got far enough back to let go of their friend.
“I always knew you were a piece of SHIT ISUCK! Touch my wife! I’m going to kill you!” Daniels anger continuing to build.
“HA! She wanted the feel of a real man Stocky!” Isaac quipped as he again began the climb up to his feet.
“Leave him alone!” Helen grabbing hold of Stockys right arm, pulling back away in a desperate attempt to stop the attack.
Stock slowly swung his left hand over to Helen. Placing the majority of his hand on the bottom half of her face and pushed her back.
The final spark of fight in Isaac was quickly extinguished as he looked up. The final thing he saw was the laces of the boots Stocky was wearing as they connected flush with his face.
Stocky spat at the ex-convict as he laid out, front down in the middle of the mud.

The date Isaac had agreed to go on was finally coming to an end.
Rebecca was a nice girl but Isaac just didn’t feel a spark between them. Isaac suspected though that Rebecca’s feelings were very different. The overly flirtatious receptionist from the gym had, on many occasions. Made it perfectly clear that she was there, on a plate whenever Isaac wanted. But she just wasn’t his type. Isaac couldn’t really ever put his finger on it. She was pretty. She had a nice body, she was funny and had a fantastic personality but Isaac just wasn’t feeling it with her.
“……and that’s how I broke up with my last boyfriend. He just wasn’t right for me, you know?” She had been telling him all about her romantic history. Isaac frankly didn’t care. He had been diving in and out of his thoughts since she began talking. The recent loss in the skeleton key match had been swiftly followed by his early elimination in the multiplayer tournament had been at the forefront of his mind. He had been replaying both matches over and over in his mind. He simply wasn’t good enough….Yet. THEY as a tag team weren’t good enough.
The losses had hurt Isaac. He had seen the chances as an opportunity to have something good happen in his life. A way to look beyond his chequered past but the relationship with his long time friend had become strained. Why though? He couldn’t fathom it. The pair had fought, the first time in years. It wasn’t just words their petty behaviour had led to the complete destruction of an entire floor and reception of the hotel. He wondered if things would get back to normal now that he, drake and tact would be together in a 6 man
“Isaac?” Rebecca had noticed Isaac had zoned out.
“Yeah?” Isaac responded.
“What about your? Any skeletons in the closet?”
“Erm…..no not really. I’ve never really been in a relationship Rebecca. There was only ever Helen for me but we have never been together. Things….. just never fell into place.” Isaac deliberately kept things vague. He wanted to be polite whilst trying to keep his distance.
“Oh that girl?” Rebecca immediately knew who Isaac was talking about. The two had met. Helen had come back into Isaacs life when he was working out.
“Yeah.” Isaac nodded. The atmosphere had changed. Isaac felt it. He wasn’t interested in Rebecca but he could tell she had the wind taken out of her sails. Isaac wasn’t trying to be horrible but this was his fourth date with girls over the last 2 weeks or so. It was all an attempt to get over Helen. The utter failure that had been the love of his life. To him she was everything but he had decided enough was enough. He had on numerous occasions told her to go, only for them to both gravitate towards each other shortly afterwards. This time though for Isaac it was definite.
“She’s been to the gym a few times you know. She’s been looking for you?” Rebecca continued
“Recently?”
“Yeah, like only yesterday too. She’s smitten with you Isaac . It’s ok I understand. You guys have history. It’s her not me.”
“Oh! Rebecca you’re lovely! you are! I’m just not feeling the spark here you know.”
Rebecca looked at Isaac “Put a word in with Drake for me?” She smiled, put her napkin down and left.
Isaac finished his drink and asked for the check.

The fight had taken it all out of Isaac. He was blacked out long enough to see their car pulling away.
Getting up he began to feel the pain of his injuries. He’d certainly broken a rib or two, a nose and one eye was just about closed up from swelling. He was covered in mud and drenched through.
The attack began when Isaac, newly released from prison had decided to visit Helen. He went to see her for him, It was time for them to be together.
She had rejected him initially but then still decided to share a kiss. It left Isaac confused. He didn’t really know how she felt. However Stocky had seen them and went wild. The initial attack came from behind. Isaac didn’t stand a chance.
Thankfully the attack had stopped once Isaac was knocked out but Isaac was now alone. Truly alone. A man with no direction. No purpose.
His hometown definitely wouldn’t want him anywhere near. His father, the evil bastard definitely wouldn’t want him. Isaac felt the same way. His mother hadn’t been seen in years. Now his friend and love Helen had been taken from him.
Isaac walked into the nearest bar.
“Jesus kid you ok?” An old drunk slurred at him.
“Fine. Bourbon.” He nodded at the barman who responded by picking up a glass and bottle. He poured.
“Leave the bottle.” Isaac dropped a few bites on the smooth wooden bar top. The barman picked through the notes and took the amount he needed, held up the paper as a gesture of thanks and walked away.
Isaac demolished the first, second and third drinks in quick succession.
“You look like a man who has the weight of the world on your shoulders.” A fellow drinker sat to Isaacs right called out. He’s was a similar age to Isaac.
“Fuck off.” Isaacs brutal response rolled off the tongue.
“Don’t be like that my brother.” The man persisted. “I can give you the edge you need.” He slid a small white folded packed along the bar under his hand. Isaac responded by finishing off the latest drink.
Isaac picked up the small package being offered to him. Slid it into his pocket and walked away to the toilet.

Interviewer : “Isaac, how have you prepared for 6 man multiplayer match tonight?”
Isaac : “The game changers need no preparation. We are a well oiled unit! We have faced these foes before and stepped out victorious! I expect the same again! My message is this - plain and simple at Exp 29 Vaughan, Mason and gloves are done.”
As Isaac walked away from his pre match interview Helen stood in the entranceway to the arena. Her arms folded across her body. She strolled over.
“Isaac, I need your help……”
