Jason is sitting in the parking lot, wearing a gray sweater and blue jeans, with the hood up. He is sitting on a blue car’s hood in a parking garage. Next to his feet is a duffle bag. There is a burn barrel next to a car. Jason looks at the city, listening to the sounds of city life, while fingering something around his neck. A interviewer walks up to him.
Jason? Could I have a few moments of your time?
Jason looks at her and slowly nods, saying nothing. The interviewer clears her throat.
The people want to know. Do you still plan to be involved with Amber Payne after she got involved in your match last week?
Jason doesn’t answer, gives no indication he heard her. Gives no indication she’s even there. After a few moments she tries again with another question.
What are your thoughts about the upcoming match?
Again Jason sits in silence. He reaches inside his sweater locker and pulls out a sock of cigarettes, lights one and takes a drag. Once more the interviewer tries.
What are your plans now for the future here in Level Up?
Jason keeps with his silence, successfully irritating the interviewer. She starts to leave when Jason finally begins to speak.
Do you feel hatred?
The interviewer stops and turns around. But before she can answer Jason speaks again.
Is there someone whose mere existence bothers you to the point you can't ignore them? Someone who you just take greatly joy in watching fail? Someone you've vowed to destroy regardless of the cost?
Uhhhhh, I can’t say that I do-
Jason looks sharply at her, causing her to fall silent.
I do. Amber is someone who I just can't ignore lives on the same planet as me, and breathes the same air. And as long as she does, I will forever be around to kick her ass. That is, when I am not going out of my way to ruin the lives of her friends. You see, Amber recently mentioned something, how I used to date one of her friends. And this friend has clearly informed her of how I went out of my way to make her feel as weak and useless as she truly is, how I took away any value she had as a human. And you know what? I enjoyed it. And the funniest thing is, I never cared about Amber's friend. In fact, I always hated her. I just used her to get back at someone else and when I was done, I kicked her to the curb. I take great pride inn the fact Amber tried so hard, so valiantly to fight for her honor and failed, like I knew she would. If only I could of seen the look on her friend my ex and she watched her failure of a friend let her down again. And because Amber failed, that means I am going to have to eventually hurt her friend, again. But that's later on, allow me to talk about my upcoming match.
Jason lights a fire in the barrel and looks at the flame as if hypnotized.
Perhaps my opponent is unaware why I am called The Dreamkiller. Because I allow people to foster dreams of defeating me, of triumphing against me. Only to take their dreams and crush them beneath my boot. Ask Mister Hendrix if you don’t believe me. When he crossed me, I nearly ended his wretched life, the only reason I let him cling on instead of doing him mercy and causing his weak pathetic heart altogether, was on a whim. With my latest victim, I won’t be so merciful. I am going to beat the fool down, I am going to rip his dreams from underneath him, and I am going to destroy them. Those who attended school will recall reading about how many young men lied about their ages to fight in World War 2. They too had dreams of being the hero and accomplishing great things, only to be met with the reality of war. And that is what my opponent will experience. Eli's dreams will be shattered by the reality of the Hell I will inflict upon him.
A gleam enters Jason's eyes as he looks at the interviewer.
Eli is but a distraction from what I have planned. if you only knew what I have been up to since the last EXP. Oh yes, I have been a very busy man indeed, and these plots of mine are going to hurt a lot of people. I enjoy it. I enjoy hurting people, making them sad, and angry, and filling them with the desire to hurt me. Only for them to learn they are the fly trapped in the web of the spider. And the spider intends to take his time in devouring them.
Jason flicks the cigarette away and goes back to fingering something around his neck.
Honestly, it doesn’t matter who Eli thinks he is. It doesn’t matter what he's done. It doesn’t even matter what I’ve done. All that matters is whoever faces across from me had better enter that ring with the intent of going into battle. Because if they don’t, I am going to make them regret the day they ever entered a training school. That ring shall become my canvas and I shall use my opponent to paint a masterpiece of violence! For Eli's war is my peace.
Jason jumps off the hood of the car
Ever since the last EXP, I’ve had this itch. This little tick. I’ve been feeling like I’ve got ants running down my body ever since my fun was interrupted last time. I’ve been restless. Wanting only to hear that lovely song of flesh slapping flesh and lyrics sung in the form of gasps of pain. My symphony I guess you can call it. I am going to enjoy this match with Eli and I know those who I pissed off will be watching. I want them to get involved, give me another reason to hurt people by all means. Give me a reason to haunt your families and friends. Just know every time someone gets it, it's the fault of those who I have decided to hunt. And like I have said before, all of Level up is my hunting ground.
Jason opens the duffle bag and dumps its contents on the hood. A picture of every single staff member of level up flutters on the car hood.
I will take Eli Good and do what I plan to do to everyone in this company. Douse them in gasoline
I will take Eli Good and do what I plan to do to everyone in this company. Douse them in gasoline
Jason pours gasoline over the photos and looks at the camera.
And leave nothing but ashes in their memory as I consume them.
Jason scoops up the photos and throws them into the fire, watching as the fire begins to grow out of control.
As far as the match goes. Break my arm. Break my leg. Dislocate my shoulder. Do whatever you’ve got to do Eli, not that it will help you. Because I am either leaving that ring in victory
Jason opens his hand to reveal a Mjolnir in his hand.
Or I shall go to Valhalla trying.
Without another word, Jason storms away from the inferno he created.
