SISTER SIN: "Are you ready?"
Sister Sin asked Opal as she sat on the edge of an old couch, the fabric torn and it's original color no longer noticeable or known. An old grandfather clock no longer able to keep time in a house that was no longer inhabited or alive. Dust particles floated through the air as small gleams of light poured in through broken blinds hanging in the windows. Cobwebs inhabited by spiders hung from the corners and light fixtures, flies drained of their fluids and life hung trapped forever in their final resting place.
OPAL: "I have been waiting for this moment the day they tore us a part from one another."
Opal answered, her smile dark and sinister as they both stood up and made their way across the room. Sister Sin reached for a door and opened it. The door creaked as a small gust of cold wind coming from the basement below blew past them. They made their way down the wooden steps, each one creaked louder than the one before until they finally reached the bottom. A small light flickered in the distance as a chair sat under it, a cloth covering it, hiding the identity of someone or something under it. Sister Sin reached for the cloth, small bloody stains covering it and pulled it down tossing it to her feet. Under it was the man responsible for taking away the last three years of her life, Dr. Spencer, who sat whimpering, cuts and bruises covering a majority of his face. He looked up, his swollen eyes slowly adjusting to his surrounding, his face filled with horror seeing Sister Sin standing over the top of him, her arms crossed as she shook her head with disgust.
SISTER SIN: "I told you the day would come, the day you would repent for your sins."
DR. SPENCER: "You're fucking crazy Amber, now let me out of here before you do something stupid, something that will get you locked up for the rest of your life."
Sister Sin laughed as she raised her hand and slapped it across his face silencing him.
OPAL: "Even tied to that chair he still thinks he is in control."
SISTER SIN: "He was never even control, not even in Highland Park, I only let him think he was Opal."
Dr. Spencer''s eyes widened again as he began to stammer over his words, his grip tightened around the arms of the chair he was tied to.
DR. SPENCER: "Opal is her with you. We talked about this during your time with me in Highland Park, we discussed how she was a bad influence, the one person that pushed you to be so evil and hateful."
Sister Sin raised her hand slapping Dr. Spencer once again across the face.
SISTER SIN: "No she was the only one there for me ever since I was dropped off in an orphanage. The only one there for me every time a family rejected me because they didn't like my hair, or my eye color. The only one that was there for me when I wasn't good enough for anyone else."
DR. SPENCER: "No Amber, she was never your friend, she only used you to lash out because she couldn't."
OPAL: "Shut him up Sin, make him shut up!"
Opal yelled angrily as Sister Sin fullfilled her friends request now balling up her fist and punching him as hard as she could. He let out a loud scream of agony as his chair almost tipped over, but then fell back on all four legs.
DR. SPENCER: "You don't have to do this Amber, you don't have to listen to her. Look around, think back to that time in the orphanage. Try to remember all those conversations we had about Opal, and why she was bad for you."
Sister Sin grabbed her head and shook it violently in an attempt to drown out Dr. Spencer's voice, but her mind wandered, it wandered back to when she was a child in that orphanage.
FLASHBACK SEQUENCE:
SISTER ABIGAIL: "We are never going to get rid of the wretched child. I swear she has the devil himself flowing through her veins."
A priest sat behind his desk as Sister Abigail spoke seeming exhausted and at a loss.
FATHER DANIEL: "I know your frustrated Sister Abigail, but she is a child of God, we can't just turn our back on her."
A young Sister Sin wearing pigtails sat outside of the priests office, her ear pressed against the door hearing everything they said. Her heart sunk, not even the orphanage wanted her anymore. She walked down the hall, even though Sister Abigail had told her not to move, but Sister Sin was never really good at listening. She felt her stomach turn, her blood begin to boil and a frustration and anger she had never known began to overcome her as she turned a corner down the hallway. That is when it all disappeared, that is when she ran into the one person she could always rely on, the only friend she ever had, Opal. She bumped into Opal and they both fell to the ground letting out a innocent childlike chuckle.
YOUNG SISTER SIN: "I'm sorry."
A young Sister Sin standing up and extending her hand to help a younger Opal up.
YOUNG OPAL: "Why are you sorry, you did nothing wrong. You should never apologize, it's a sign of weakness."
YOUNG SISTER SIN: "It is?"
She said dusting off her clothes as she inspected her body to ensure she hadn't been bruised from the fall. Sister Sin's was glad for the brief run in with Opal, but her mind quickly went back to what she overheard in Father Daniels office and how they weren't sure what to do with her.
YOUNG OPAL: "What's the matter, you seem sad?"
YOUNG SISTER SIN: "I guess I am. I have been here for three years and still have yet to be adopted, and now it seems like they don't even want me here either."
YOUNG OPAL: "Who wouldn't want to adopt you. I just met you and I would love to be your sister."
YOUNG SISTER SIN: "You would?"
The young Sister Sin smiled ear to ear, the thought of having a sister excited her. The two continued down the hallway talking before coming to the arts and craft room. They peaked inside noticing no one was in sight and stepped into the room. They went to a nearby table and sat down, pictures of cartoon animals sat in front of them along with crayons and art supplies. The two discussed what made them happy and what made them sad as they giggled and scribbled various colors all over the pictures in font of them.
SISTER ABIGAIL: "AMBER, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE!"
The loud shrill voice of Sister Abigail echoed through the room as she stood over the top of her.
YOUNG SISTER SIN: "I was just coloring.
Her response was innocent and child like.
SISTER ABIGAIL: "These supplies are donated to us and were for class tomorrow, now you have ruined all of them."
Sister Abigail picked up the pile of colored pictures and flipped through them angrily, each one had been colored.
SISTER ABIGAIL: "You have been told time and time again to not wander around by yourself. Are you so stupid you can't even follow simple instructions?"
The young Sister Sin's eyes began to fill with tears as her heart began to race.
OPAL: "Don't let her talk to us that way, here."
The young Sister Sin looked over at Opal who was holding a pair of scissors and handed them to her.
OPAL: "Cut out her tongue!"
With no warning the young Sister Sin leapt from her chair and knocked Sister Abigail down to the ground and pushed the scissors towards her face. Sister Abigail quickly grabbed her wrists as the scissors began to move closer and closer towards her. Sister Abigail was amazed by the strength the young girl had, using every muscle she had to keep her at bay, until she was finally saved by Father Daniel accompanied by a younger couple. He quickly grabbed the scissors out of her hands and pushed the two away as Sister Abigail scrambled to her feet shaken from the incident.
FATHER DANIEL: "What on earth is going on here?"
YOUNG SISTER SIN: "It wasn't me, Opal told me to do it."
Everyone in the room looked around puzzled.
YOUNG MAN: "And just who is Opal?"
YOUNG SISTER SIN: "She is my new friend."
SISTER ABIGAIL: "I have told you time and time again this child doesn't belong here, she is evil."
Father Daniel frowned as he looked at the young couple standing behind him.
FATHER DANIEL: "I'm sorry that you had to see this unfold. There are other children that you can meet if you would like."
YOUNG MAN: "No she is perfect."
Sister Sin's flashback of her time in Saint Bethlehems ended. Dr. Spencer could tell she had been a trance and had just remembered her time as a troubled youth.
DR. SPENCER: "Do you remember now. Do you remember that Opal was never real, she was just a figment of your imagination, someone you concocted so that you wouldn't feel guilty for the bad things you have done in your life."
Sister Sin shook her head again feeling confused as she looked around the dark basement no longer seeing Opal. She sat down and began to cry as she rocked back in forth in front of Dr. Spencer.
SISTER SIN: "Please come back......please, I need you.....Opal come back."
